Directions for Use
- Pre-treatment evaluation: A thorough lameness examination, including radiographic evaluation, should be performed to confirm the diagnosis and rule out serious fractures or other pathologies.
- Joint preparation: The injection site should be clipped, surgically scrubbed, and prepared using strict aseptic technique.
- Administration: The 4 mL single-dose vial is drawn into a sterile syringe and injected directly into the affected joint space using an appropriate gauge needle.
- Post-injection care: The horse should be rested or given controlled exercise for 24–48 hours post-injection. The treating veterinarian will determine the appropriate post-injection management plan.
- Repeat treatments: Treatment may be repeated at weekly intervals for a total of three treatments, depending on the horse’s response and the veterinarian’s clinical judgment.
Special Precautions and Warnings
- Radiographic evaluation should be carried out in cases of acute lameness to ensure that the joint is free from serious fractures before administering Legend.
